Even a Jury awarded case such as $3 million awarded in Liebeck v. McDonald's Restaurants, was reduced by a judge to just $640,000 & further reduced in settlement to prevent McDonalds from appealing it. Liebeck's daughter said it all went to pay for a live-in nurse because her mother no longer had any quality of life after "the burns and court proceedings (had taken) their toll"

So there is no way CNN's insurance allowed a settlement for anywhere over a million to an unharmed boy. The most he got was free college tuition.
