Trump's tax proposal would push US below Greece on inequality index

Poll: 46 percent of respondents approve of Trump's handling of economy

Americans are increasingly confident about the state of the U.S. economy, a new Bloomberg
poll released Monday morning shows, but that confidence does not extend to the performance of President Donald Trump.

But just 46 percent of those polled said they approved of Trump’s handling of the economy, while 47 percent said they approved of his record on job creation. Overall, just 40 percent of respondents said they approve of the job Trump has done as president. Fifty-five percent said they view him unfavorably and 61 percent said the nation is headed down the wrong path, both numbers that climbed 12 points relative to a Bloomberg poll taken last December.

The president’s foreign policy also received low marks in the new Bloomberg poll, with just 40 percent expressing some level of confidence that he is representing the interests of the nation and not his own business interests when he deals with foreign leaders.

Why is the economy doing well?

That's been their plan since before the deficit creating Bush Tax Cuts.

How Trump compares with Obama so far on jobs

For a president who loves to talk about creating jobs, it's been a strong start: Employers have added 863,000 jobs during Donald Trump's first five full months in office.

That's not quite as many as the 908,000 jobs added during President Barack Obama's last five months in office.

He hasn't done anything. And with good reason. Obama handed him a success, why mess it up?

Excellent point. We Democrats are the most effective minority party in American History

Trump's tax proposal would push US below Greece on inequality index
Source: The Guardian
Donald Trump’s tax reform plans would, if enacted, increase the gap between rich and poor Americans and see the US slip below Greece on a new global index of inequality.

According to the Commitment to Reducing Inequality (CRI) index, developed by researchers at Oxfam and Development Finance International, the US already distinguishes itself among wealthy countries by doing “very badly” at addressing inequality.

But it would fall a further six places from its ranking of 23rd overall if Trump’s tax reform effort is successful, with the US’s specific rating on tax policies plummeting 33 places from 26th to 59th – just below Peru, Chile and Sri Lanka.

“When you already have countries like Portugal and Slovenia ranking higher than the United States on the overall index, we think that’s a concern considering the wealth of the US,” Paul O’Brien, Oxfam America’s vice-president for policy and campaigns, told the Guardian.

This will make America a third world nation in many parts of our land...How the fuck is this smart policy to you? You just can't ignore 75% of your country like in Central America or Africa and expect success.

Yeah, yeah....it makes no sense to cut the tax for the people paying taxes...I know, let's cut the tax for the people who pay NO TAXES. Haha...makes perfect sense in LibtardoLand.
In a way you are right. When the top percenters are positioned in a way where our country's wealth is being vacuumed into their bank accounts we have to find a way to balance the scales a bit. I'm fine for tax breaks that incentivize the wealthy to spend and release money into our economy, not all of it needs to go to the government, but since taxation is essentially burning money to balance spending and new money there isn't much of a point to tax the poor, middle class, or even small business very much... its all a balancing act. Wealth inequality is a big factor how healthy an economy is

If you had cared enough to research their struggles you would have found the large generous welfare state, due to rising taxes on companies, along with pensions, helped create the mess they have been in. Raise taxes on business, they have to hire fewer, let some go; more welfare recipients; increase taxes again; rinse, repeat.

I'm thinking we should continue raising taxes on the people whom are already paying the majority of tax in this country and funnel more free shit to our pet humans. Let's continue to perpetuate and expand that lower class...after all, that equates to MORE VOTES FOR DEMOCRATS! WooooHoooo!

Greedy Moon Bats are obsessed with income equality, aren't they? Its a Commie thing.

Of course these are the same idiots that elected Obama that increased income disparity, increased poverty, decreased family income, ran up debt and had dismal economic growth so go figure.
