Yep, his reasons for doing so are absolutely messed up.

He got into trouble, sounds like the sort of person who's in the military because they're DESPERATE for soldiers and couldn't get anyone better than him. He's clearly not very bright and clearly got problems.

So, to solve his problems he went to North Korea, and his problems at home look much, much better than his current problems in NK.

Did you read the story? He was escorted to the airport to be sent back home to Texas and his home unit. Either his escort was a buddy that let him go or they just left him once he had passed security.

He is a low level scout that just got out of ROK jail. It is very doubtful he has any useful information at all
