VA Democrats to outlaw single family zoning

I hate when a person argues like this. We have one person pushing something, that doesn't mean it has any support.

They want to keep the serfs/slaves, in easily managed locations....far from their socialist lords and masters....
Serfs are not nice when they decide they have nothing left to lose and grab the pitchforks.

the Democrats won the Virginia House and Senate last election. Republicans should have known there was a lot at stake there, my friends!

Well, VA might revert to Red with this kind of Marxist crap going on for two more years.

Democrats Want To Outlaw 'Racist' Single-Family Housing In Virginia

No, what you have is one lunatic who is proposing something nutty that is highly unlikely to ever even get voted on. That does not equal Democrats plural
I dont think you grasp the hold the lunatics have on the Democratic Party, Taz.

Oregon Is Adopting the Most Important Housing Reform in America

The Oregon Senate sent House Bill 2001 to Gov. Kate Brown’s desk on Sunday by a 17–9 vote, the latest and largest victory for a national movement to increase density in communities that have severely restricted what can be built—and as a result, who may live there. In Portland, Oregon’s largest city, 77 percent of residential land is set aside exclusively for single-family homes. In the suburbs, the share is higher.

What was once the bedrock social structure of the American city is shifting fast. Minneapolis voted to eliminate single-family home zoning last fall, citing the policy’s racial, environmental, and economic impact. California, which like Oregon has already legalized accessory dwelling units statewide (such as an apartment in a garage), has debated a state override of local zoning rules to permit apartments near transit lines and in job-rich areas. Other West Coast cities like Seattle and San Diego are also reexamining the wisdom of laws that restrict central neighborhoods to one-family houses.

But all the GOP did was nominate a slate of losers because the VA GOP does not want to help Trump in any way whatsoever.

A better explanation of the bill, and similar ones in other states can be found here:
Inside the Virginia Bill to Allow Denser Housing - CityLab

I don't know how far it will go, but there is a crisis regarding affordable housing in NOVA. I'm not sure whether anyone else has come up with another solution, but somebody needs to propose another alternative. The idiots who scream "get a job" seem to have no understanding that people have to live within commuting distance from their jobs and have reliable transportation, as well as make enough to afford local housing. The idiots who just yell "marxism!" are just being idiots.

and the article explained that by doing it statewide, it is likely not to affect one neighborhood chosen.... it can evenly spread out increased housing where just an apt or duplex or two be added miles and cities apart, and not ruin a neighborhood overnight...

man, this deregulation should be loved, by conservatives, you would think? :D

The bill BANS single family unit only zoning.

I remember the duplex craze from the '70s and realtors would love to build two units on the same lot and sell two homes instead of one and make twice the money.

Realtors also love 'block busting' and then selling new homes to those fleeing their once safe and beautiful neighborhoods.

I used to live in MD up in the Gaithersburg area, and they started to rezone to include low income families of all ethnicities, and I knew it was going to all go to shit, and it did.

Democrats love destroying Middle Class neighborhoods.

Your best bet is to not live inside the city limits of a large American city. The larger the city, the bluer it will be and thus you'll be stuck with the laws and regulations of insane liberals who want to destroy everything that is an American tradition.

I bet Gaithersburg was a Montgomery County ordinance.

Zoning is done at the county level. I could be wrong, but I don't believe the Commonwealth has the (current) authority to dictate zoning statewide.

There is a lot of money in Northern Virginia. I doubt the residents of Fairfax and Loudoun Counties, though it was they that sent more Democrats to the statehouse, are going to permit any massive influx of the impecunious. Fairfax County alone is awash in McMansions ($1-4 million), both newly completed and under construction.

The Jordanian immigrant that authored the bill lives in Loudon Country.

How much you want to bet the rezoning wont affect his neighborhood?

Not after we fix our immigration system.

After that they will return to Red until Dems rebrand as White Nationalists.

I don't want to destroy any neighborhood.

What is your solution?

They have an abundance of new businesses and jobs, Amazon is opening there too, and population that does not have enough homes and rentals to house them....

I don't know the answer, And likely a bill like this won't pass.

Zoning IS REGULATION.... And repubs are suppose to believe in DEREGULATION, to make things cheaper for us, while more profitable for businesses....

How is this any different Jim?

Why is this Regulation ok? Because it serves a sector of people you belong to?

My honest answer is yes..... single family regulatied zoning would help me, over others just needing a home to live in.....

Why not give a requirement that only X% of a county can be single family only and have a minimum that must allow for multiple family zoning and let the counties decide for themselves?

Why does this have to be ALL zones everywhere?

And why do you presume I am against regulations? I like regulatory oversight by the government; I am not an anarchist or a Losertarian.
