The police in Brooklyn, Illinois, said that suspects had been arrested over the video:

In reference to the investigation involving the video released on 7/13/2020, regarding an incident that happened on 7/10/2020 involving the battery of a female and her child in the Thomas Terry Apartments, all suspects were taken into custody on 7/14/2020 and are being held at the St Clair County jail pending formal charges by the St. Clair County States Attorneys office.

When those charges are issued, we will update the public.

Not even sure what to say about this one, except who knows what preceded the attack. People tend to edit out whatever might make them more culpable for what happens in a video, but in this case it looks like they gleefully recorded the attack for fun. Pretty horrible all around.


UPDATE: The Brooklyn Police Department have announced the following charges:

In reference to the circulated video posted online on 7/13/2020. The Brooklyn Police Department conducted an investigation which resulted in 2 adults and one juvenile taken into custody. Charges were submitted to the St. Clair County States Attorney’s office. Those charges were reviewed and warrants were granted.
On 7/16/2020 the St. Clair County States Attorney issued the following charges,
Chesley A. Gordon age 19 was charged with two counts of aggravated battery in a public place in violation of section 12-3.05(c), Act 5, Chapter 720 ILCS, 2006. Gordon was also charged with two counts of Mob Action in violation of section 25-1(a)(1), Act 5, Chapter 720 ILCS, 2006.
Tyreiel N. Brown age 19 was charged with two counts of aggravated battery in a public place in violation of section 12-3.05(c), Act 5, Chapter 720 ILCS, 2006. Brown was also charged with two counts of Mob Action in violation of section 25-1(a)(1), Act 5, Chapter 720 ILCS, 2006.
Bond amounts were set at 75,000 for both individuals.
In compliance with the Illinois Juvenile Court Act, we cannot comment on charging decisions involving juveniles.
Once again, the Brooklyn Police Department would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while this legal process transpired. Any further information requests regarding the status of these cases should be directed to the State’s Attorney’s office."

1966 LBJ expanded the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program…under FDR, AFDC had been limited to widows, those who had lost their husbands and now lacked a breadwinner at home to help support the children.

Then began to loosen and expand the rules of AFDC eligibility, eventually getting to the point where any woman living alone with children could take advantage of this program. In doing so, they not only bought a large number of new votes, they also incentivized out of wedlock births and single motherhood.

Millions of women discovered that they could be better off financially by not marrying.
