Was Obama’s ‘Afghan Surge’ A Failure?

Maybe somebody in the Pentagon left out the surge part and nobody noticed. The media scrutiny about Iraq and Afghanistan ended when Obama was elected to his first term.

Maobama lost Afghanistan by continually changing the Rules of Engagement. He tied the habds of those he sent into harm's way causing the deaths and injuries to many young Americans.

There were some gains. But they will be lost when we leave. The sooner the better. Afghanistan is a threat to no one except the people who are in Afghanistan.

One of the major problems with Afghanistan is there are no "sides". You can have folks fighting on your side one day..then taking potshots at you the next.

Then a month later they are fighting for you again.

Was Obama?s ?Afghan Surge? A Failure?

To much fanfare, President Obama announced a shift in Afghan War policy in December 2009. There's little evidence it's worked.
I don't think much of anything has worked in Afghanistan. Yes, we have killed a lot of terrorist but I don't see that we have won the hearts and minds of people. Unless that happens, when we leave, and we will in a few years, life will return to the way it has been for hundreds of years, a country with a weak central government ruled by war lords and religious fanatics and financed by the drug trade.

Failure? Doesn't that depend upon what you think it was supposed to achieve?

What DO you think it was supposed to do? Surely, you don't think the goal was to defeat the Taliban, do you?

All Maobama accomplished was more mutilation and death to those serving in our armed forces. He had the surge designed to fail and did all he could to make it fail. Now to have America retreat from Afghanistan.

You want to stay in Afghanistan? To do what?
