I don't know about that but I do know that I personally have seen giant sea turtles be harmed by fishing lines.

This one was tangled in a net.

I'm glad this woman was there to help the turtle or it would have died.

Personally I love giant sea turtles. I have been swimming in the ocean several times with them. I've photographed them in and out of the water.

They are very beautiful creatures.
