Well this is a bit of a surprise

Wait..we are talking about Texas so many not so much. During last years cold snap that brought the power grid in Texas to its knees it turns out a big part of the problem was that ERCOT paid some natural gas generators to shut down just when they were needed the most... Natural gas companies were paid to turn off power during Texas winter storm: report

Now try to be honest. The gas companies were enrolled in a program that allowed their electric consuming equipment to be turned off so that the electricity they normally consume could be diverted to consumers.

Ya right, ..“It seems inconsistent that critical infrastructure should also voluntarily allow themselves to be turned off when they are needed most,” Rhodes said.

The gas companies should have not signed up for the program. Anyway, thousands of lives could have been saved by the diversion of their electric to consumers and hospitals.

The State of Texas should be slapping all kinds of regulations and requiring upgrades to insure adequate production (even if it turns cold or even hot) on its private electrical power production industry to prevent them from doing their job that poorly again, but their legislature is too busy trying to make sure the ones that wrote the regulation cannot be voted out of office.
I bet Generac home power backup systems is having a hell of a sale year, down there, now. It is obvious, if you cannot afford emergency home backup power, in that state, you just don't matter.
