When I was closer to your age the federal government was nowhere near the size it is now. With economic fundamentals screwed up also. State, local and city governments taxes have shot up like a rocket going into space. We have lotteries, casinos, race tracks, Off track betting and other forms of gambling near everywhere in the nation. Raking in massive amounts of taxes for the governments involved. Without them the taxes would be even higher then now. And many people who gamble, really should not.
