A very interesting article about the various things to do to save and reuse water as well as desalinization. It seems that the most useful solutions are not always what the politicians want. No big surprise.

Which are the solutions that you agree with?

As Australia discovered, weather is unpredictable. I think steps should be taken to ensure water tables are depleted and can be refilled when it finally rains.

Desalinization makes a lot of sense and technology is constantly improving to eliminate the drawbacks.

First, you deplete an aquifer, quite often it compresses, and you are not going to refill it. Second, the primary obstacle to desalinization is cost. Even for drinking water only, it is expensive. And far too expensive for agriculture. Best to recognize there are some limits to what we can do in some places.
