Except AA doesn't lower standards. AA compensates for white privilege.

I have worked with two people who I knew were AA Hires. In short, they got positions I should have gotten in that I was more qualified, but white and male. One a white female who was promoted because another white female was suing them for discrimination. The other a black female who got a job while I was a contractor and had already been with the company for a year.

On the other hand, I've worked with dozens of white people who got promotions because they were related to the boss, sleeping with the boss, or drinking buddies with the boss. I personally can attest that I've gotten two positions simply through connections. - I knew someone who knew someone.
