What do You Think?- NBA player refuses to stand for National Anthem

"What do You Think?- NBA player refuses to stand for National Anthem"

This is a ridiculous non-issue.

And the OP once again demonstrates he's a complete idiot.

Meh, I can tell after 13 pages this issue is pretty much moot. Thanks for pointing it out. :cuckoo:

So what do you think?

Why you ask does he not stand?

Mr. XXX said it's because he's... that's right-

Muslim :up_yours:

Can't stand for the National Anthem of this country but instead they stand to cut off your head

Just as I thought

More bulletin board material for Patriots

Dion Waiters, an NBA player for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was nowhere to be found when the national anthem was being sung before his team’s game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Waiters says the reason he excused himself prior to the national anthem is that he’s a Muslim acting in accordance with his religious beliefs.

If so-called “moderate Muslims” really wanted things to get better, they would stand and sing at the top of their lungs for America and hope we, as a country, survive and eliminate evil-doers all over the world.

Read more at NBA player refuses to stand for national anthem but it 8217 s the reason why that 8217 s so disturbing
I could not possibly care less.

The NBA does not enter into my world.

I agree that the moderate muslims should speak out against the terrorist acts of the radicals.

But forcing someone to stand for the national anthem goes against everything we stand for.
Yes, simple courtesy and respect is so un-American.

Where does it state he has to place his hand over his heart and recite the Pledge?
It does not and he has every right to refuse to say it.
That being said he should at least stand up and show some respect for the country he is making his living in.
When a hockey game is played between a US Team and a Canadian Team and both anthems are played the players stand for both anthems out of respect.
I can just imagine the outrage if a whiteboy refused to stand for a Muslim country's anthem, let's say at the Olympics or some other event.

So you guys are all for religious freedom unless it's a religion you don't like.

Incidently, I have no idea, does the NBA have a rule that all their players have to stand for the national anthem?

No Joe. I HAVE A RULE they do. Muslims to boot

-Geaux

So you have a rule that requires everyone to stand for the National Anthem. JoeyB has a rule that gun dealers who sell guns that are used to commit murders go to jail, whether they followed the rules or not.

The good news is that neither of you get to make rules for everyone else. You follow your rule.

No one is saying there ought to be a law. However, it is disrespectful. Considering it is this country and the liberty for which it stands that allows him to pursue his happiness and live a lifestyle that most only envy.

You saying it is not a slap in the face or disrespectful?

Fucking morons.
Fans should just spit on his ass.

I don't think anyone mentioned for him to be forced to stand. The point is why even have to go there? Just amazing how America is being transformed into a melting pot of a spoiled culture

You have no idea what you are talking about, Be afraid amd sit at home telling yourself thst you are doing the right thing.

I have more than enough of an idea what's out there to understand that it disgusts me to the point of physical illness. It does not create fear in me.

I am doing what's best for myself and for those places I might visit. I make the Uncouth American stereotype seem downright polite.

Shellfish is certainly "American" if it can be classified in such a way. It's always been very popular in New England. Fisherman here in NE have made a living off of shellfishing for centuries. Shows how much YOU know. :rolleyes-41:

Shellfish is American. So is Anaphylaxis. I have no great desire to die over dinner.

You also seem to be quite ignorant. While I too have pride in my country and think others should too, that doesn't mean you have to be so ignorant and hateful of other peoples and their cultures.

Hate is the most powerful force in the world. It moves mountains. It's not ignorance but rather a firm belief that I already know everything I NEED to know and will seek out other things I have an interest in only under my own particular limits.

Yes, simple courtesy and respect is so un-American.

It is the simple courtesy and respect for America that we should all have to allow a person to have the freedom to sit or stand for an anthem and not judge them.

The Supreme Court has upheld numerous cases with respect to freedom to practice a religion as regards to the national anthem.

Without choice, there is no freedom.

Hmm, does SCOTUS respect right to spit on the asshole?

The Supreme Court preserves the rights that were afforded to us in our Constitution, the right to practice religion freely.

Who would, that be and why follow their morals and values?

Sorry I wasn't there thousands of years ago to get their names. Those Morals and Values are the true Universal Morals and Values not the ones we see now, corrupted by time, politics, and religion. They would be much more Traditional values, more like what we see in the Middle and Far East. Not the open and free values we see today which require no consequences for actions
