Excellent thread for I am a pig and hog expert. Decades ago I raised pigs and hogs. A pig becomes a hog at 200 pounds. A shoat is a female pig and a barrel is a castrated male pig. A sow is a female hog and a boar is a male hog. Sows farrow two litters of pigs each year which get sent to market before the pigs weigh 200 pounds. One litter is usually nine but can be more or less. Hogs don't like their noses stapled to keep them from rooting. I ate pig mash and it is sweet tasting.
