What explains "democratic Socialists"?

What explains "democratic Socialists"?

Are they gullible? Ignorant? How were they deluded into believing that THEY will be the Billionaire Socialist dictator?

Socialist Paradise Venezuela: 2,000,000% inflation, no food, no running water, people eat their pets and sell their kids, the political leaders are BILLIONAIRES!

"You bet you life it will work this time!"
Democratic Socialists are thinking about Canada, Germany and Australia.

Not Venezuela.

This has only been pointed out about fifteen million times. And it still doesn't sink in for some. Maybe after sixteen million.
.
The State doesn't own and control the means of production in Canada, Germany, and Australia...Hence, they are not socialist countries, democratic or otherwise, properly defined.

But this is how the socialists and commies set about things...Bastardize the language and reel in the ignorant and gullible.

its a rich tradition in criticizing capitalism, without offering an alternative.

it's time for american leaders from bernie to beto to buttigieg to biden to booker to find an alternative solution

one minor change we can have is having american workers voting for their bosses in corporate america...they vote who their boss is...just like you vote who your mayor or president is

Stupidity on display.

I mean, that is just simply STUPID.

How do you breathe and walk at the same time?

The funniest part of this is the fact that the term "socialism" doesn't scare anyone any more.

So this whole hyperbolic, binary, boogeyman farce is nothing more than partisan masturbation.
That’s actually not funny at all. Socialism should scare everyone. It scares the shit out of anyone that escaped it so that should tell you something.
That depends on what you're talking about. Venezuelan socialism? Sure. The Democratic socialism of Canada, Germany and Australia? Not so much.

"Democratic Socialism" is a dumb phrase, and I don't know why they use it.

What most of them want is the balance of capitalism and socialist elements of Canada, Germany, and Australia.

I don't think the Right can grasp this. Or it doesn't want to. Hard to tell.
.

Socialism is socialism. Same theory, same goals. Just because it's less of a disaster in some places doesn't mean it's a good idea.

This all exists on a continuum. The degree and cost and nature of government involvement exist on a continuum. It's not one or the other.

I don't think they really do know what they want, other than free lunch....Which is probably why they fall for the "democratic socialism" ruse.

There are plenty of people who don't need or want a free lunch who believe in a strong safety net in the most prosperous country on the planet.

No, there are real distinctions to be made. Real values. Real priorities. Real policies. Pretending it's all an "illusion" serves no purpose other than deception.

"Safety net"...Another Siren song of the authoritarian.

You had be very damn careful how much power you give government. Capitalists not so much. You can just stop buying their products. Government doesn’t give you that choice.

"Democratic Socialism" is a dumb phrase, and I don't know why they use it.

They use it because they think "democratic" makes it an easier sell with liberals. They're probably right. In my view, the over application of democracy is the biggest problem with socialism, so I tend to agree with you that it's a dumb term.

Those values, priorities and policies exist along a spectrum, too.

We let the capitalists (of which I am one) run wild and that led to the Meltdown.

The key is finding and maintaining the proper balance.

Not what happened at all. Government demanded those banks give out the loans and in return government would guarantee the loans. If it was capitalism the loans would never have been made and if they were you would no longer see that bank today.
