What the Freedom Caucus wants in the GOP health-care bill, and why it’s not getting it

This bill SUCKS all the way around. The President is a populist so why he is pushing EITHER sides of this bill is beyond me. We can't buy across state lines and NOW the extremists want maternity care etc taken OUT of the bill.....if that isn't required to be covered then why would insurance companies put it in? So they can rob people of MORE money simply for having a baby? Its time for people to bankrupt the goddamn healthcare system and make sure it hurts the politicians AND healthcare ceo's the most.

You know this is very similar to what happened with Obamacare. The Democrats fought over Obamacare for nearly two years making compromise after compromise with house and senate democrats to get it passed. The end result, although better than nothing was not good. Republicans are doing the same thing and the results will not be any better.

This could be a chance to actually get something done right in healthcare. There are a number things in Obamacare that need to be changed and there are some good things we need to keep. For example, the new bill eliminates the mandate and substitutes strong penalties when the person eventually buys insurance. That's a good idea and should be enough to convince most young people to carry insurance. Profit limits on insurance companies is meaningless and should be eliminated. Medicaid expansion is a good idea but so are block grants.

The advantage of changing Obamacare and removing what does not work is a much better idea than scraping it and creating a total new law that no one will have any idea what the ramifications will be. With Obamacare we have plenty of data as to what works and what doesn't work. We should be fixing what we have rather creating another monster that the Democrats will be ripping apart when they get control.
