Moved to the mountains so that I could ski and hunt more.

My thanks to you and your father for your service, likewise to those of similar experience.

My wife's a "military brat" as well. My further gratitude to all the spouses and children that constantly pulled up stakes to support the effort.

Reading the replies I have discovered that a few posters and I may have trod the same paths - Detroit, Colo.Springs, Fl's Nature Coast - plus Indiana, Fl's West Coast, Wrightsville Bch - with much time spent in N. Ga and N. Va.

Born and raised in the Chicagoland area. SW Missouri for 13 years. Wake Forest NC for 7 years. Currently Florida's Nature Coast for the last 7 years.

My sister was born while we were there.

I guess this is as far as the U.S. Cavalry pushed west before they settled down.

Navy brat here. Born in Texas, lived in Rhode Island, Iowa, California, Maryland and Orlando, Florida since 1968. The I joined the navy myself and was stationed in Charleston SC, and Boston MA. Back here in Orlando now.

It would take 3 pages here to list all the places I've lived since being born in The Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles. A dozen or so places in the area before enlisting in the Army. Fort Ord, Fort Belvoir, north of Bordeaux, France, and back to LA. Then, another 19 years in the Army, 9 years in Europe. Retired at Fort Meyer and moved here to Las Vegas where I've been for 37 years.

Lake Tahoe is beautiful. Lots of crayfish in it too. Goes well with gumbo in the South.

Cold lake however. You need a wetsuit, and weight belt.
