Who are the Palestinians?

Jews purchased the land, from Arabs. Now, you know, moron.
Poor Richard. They confiscated much more land than they were able to purchase.
Haganah was formed to defend against Arab violence. Now, you know, moron.
So you were lying when you said they were unarmed. Shameful Richard. You don't think those original farmers who immigrated during the first 20 years brought weapons to defend themselves with?
Which folks were living in ”Palestine” when it was first named “Palestine” by the Romans about 2,000 years ago? Read, learn, you moron
And that has what to to with the 20th century.

Nice try Mr. Cranium

The real story is the General Assembly passed a non binding resolution that was supposed to be taken up by the SC. They never got the chance because that vote marked the beginning of the hostilities, the beginning of the diaspora, and the beginning of the fight for an independent Israel. The fighting and ethnic cleansing was well underway when the Brits called it quits, Israel declared its independence and the Arabs formally declared war. In the end Israel won their nation by force of arms. They, like most all nations will survive as a nation as long as they can keep it, by the same force of arms.
”Ethnic cleansing”?! Your antisemitism is driving that lie.

Allow me to quote lisa "They were paid for their land, and Jews moved in."

Which is it? Did they have a hard time buying land before the war, or did they just pay for it and move on in?

Doesn't matter now does it, by hook or crook, they're there and they're expanding.
Why the targeted hate for Israel? Oh right, never mind….we know.

More Jews were kicked out of the many Arab nations than Muslims were kicked out of the Israeli side of the partition. But that is a sweet victim card you whipped out there.......I'm pretty sure Israel welcomed those Jewish refugees while the Arabs forced the dispersed inhabitant of Palestine into refugee camps, although Jordan did offer them citizenship.....

League of Nations lawfully transferred ownership of the land to the Jews from the Ottoman Empire and authorized the “reconstitution” of the Jewish National Home. Jews purchased land from Turks and Arabs. Now, you know…

Israel Is Our Shield

The European ruling classes realized that when World War I finally put an end to the jihad run by the Turks (1071- 1918), another jihad would soon pop up (the Moslem Brotherhood started that one as early as 1928). Well-educated in history, they established a Jewish Homeland as a decoy to the imminent religious thrill-killing. It worked until Al Qaeda wised up, deciding to bypass Israel for now and attack the West directly through terrorism and immigration, all of it financed or extorted through OPEC price-gouging.

Arabs initiated the ‘48 War, they were defeated, and hundreds of thousands fled, many urged to flee by Arab leaders, as acknowledged by the P.M. of Syria at the time. It sucks to be them. It sucks to be you.

Poor fella. The Arab Nations couldn't formally declare War on Israel before Israel existed. The fighting for territory began soon after the UN General Assembly voted for the Partition plan in 1947.

They didn't say that the Arab armies attacked Israel.

They didn't mention the Nakba that started months before the 1948 war.

They didn't mention that the war ended with an armistice.
“The Arab-Israeli War of 1948 broke out when five Arab nations invaded territory in the former Palestinian Mandate.” Prior to Israeli statehood.

Renowned Arab scholar Found Ajami: “The UN vote in 1947 was Israel’s title to statehood. Palestinians and Arab powers chose the path of war. Their choice was calamitous. Palestine became a great Arab shame. Few Arabs were willing to tell the story truthfully, to face its harsh verdict”

General Assembly votes are not binding and cannot authorise member states to use force. The matter was to be taken up be the Security Council, who can authorize member state to use force. Nothing in the UN Charter says they have the power to create nations however. The poor Palestinian villages, often made of Mud Huts, had very little common defense against the superior Israelis who began cleansing it's side of the so called partition village by village before they declared independence. Arabs, as was typical, reacted violently to the UN vote as well, giving the future Israelis plenty of excuses to resort to violence themselves.
