How do you reconcile these later comments, by Trump, with today's desperate need to bash the WHO?

It has been stated over and over he listened to the experts. Most of those sound bites were coming from those experts, the same ones around under H1N1.
On Jan 31st he went against WHO advice, and actually Issued travel restrictions. For you to not include that fact within your own reading of the sound bites, is only to try to find something to gripe about. If he indeed didn’t take it seriously he never would have issued the travel bans and quarantines.

This is the 6th time WHO has declared a PHEIC since the International Health Regulations (IHR) came into force in 2005.

WHO’s situation report for 30 January reported 7818 total confirmed cases worldwide, with the majority of these in China, and 82 cases reported in 18 countries outside China. WHO gave a risk assessment of very high for China, and high at the global level.

Is all that nonsense the fault of the WHO?

Those were moments of hope. We did not know yet how severe the infection was, and hopes were across the board that maybe we’d be lucky and it would act like a seasonal flu does, which typically disappears in spring, until next season.

For you to not include that fact within your own reading of the sound bites, is only to try to find something to gripe about. Taiwan told the WHO on Dec 12th that there was human to human transmission. The WHO withheld that until late January... The WHO wasn't giving any serious warning and were down playing the data and evidence that was coming out of China.

Taiwan told the WHO on Dec 12th that there was human to human transmission. The WHO withheld that until late January... The WHO wasn't giving any serious warning and were down playing the data and evidence that was coming out of China.

In Taipei on Saturday, Health Minister Chen Shih-chung quoted the text of the Dec. 31 email written in English that the government sent to the WHO.

“News resources today indicate that at least seven atypical pneumonia cases were reported in Wuhan, China,” Chen said, reading the email.
“Their health authorities replied to the media that the cases were believed not to be SARS, however the samples are still under examination, and cases have been isolated for treatment,” he continued.
“I would greatly appreciate if you have relevant information to share with us.”

Dec. 31, not Dec 12. It doesn't mention h2h transmission, although one might infer from "isolated for treatment" that it was suspected to be contagious.

And the US President continued to downplay the threat into March, despite the WHO's early warnings.

The WHO was out ahead of Trump's claims in every respect, while he downplayed the threat.

Ironically "downplaying threats" is exactly what the WHO did with regard to China.

Though, according to the WHO even on Jan 14th, there wasn’t evidence of human to human transmission, so why did they ignore that?
