Why Did Obama Order the Stand Down Against Russian Cyberattacks?

What’s it to him that they keep working on it? So some computer nerds in the government keep chasing their own shadows, so what? Why would the President of the United States order the stand down?

Yeah. We know why.

Its because Obama wanted bipartisan statement condemning Russian cyberattacks.

Near the end of the 2016 campaign, Trump was claiming the election was rigged, and without bipartisan condemnation of Russian meddling, it would add fuel to the "election is rigged" claim.

Its all right there in the article you linked to.

So Obama told his cyber security team to stand down because of cyber attacks?

You think Obama is REALLY stupid.

Barry was Putin's bitch.
Obama fucked up and was feckless with the Russians. I agree with that.

But this guy is Putin’s bitch:

How would pulling the plug on trying to stop Russian cyber attacks further that end?

Obama bent over backwards not to appear to be targetting the Trump campaign, and admits that not wanting to alarm the American public about this or trying to frighten the American public kept him from doing more. I'm far less concerned about what happened, since we cannot change the past, only learn from it.

Since the 2016 election, what has the Trump Administration done to prevent the Russians, or others, from doing the same thing in 2020, and the answer to that question would be "absolutely nothing". Just the opposite. Trump has cut funding to the agencies fighting Russian interference, while openly inviting foreign interference from the Ukranians, the Chinese, and the Russians.

Can you put your TDS aside for 30 seconds and answer the OP on why Obama felt the need to micromanage an issue that turned out to be a coup attempt upon Trump?

The stand down order was for offensive retaliation, not for counterintelligence defense.

The counterintelligence defense was secret during the 2016 campaign. But the offensive retaliation towards Russia required bipartisan support, and McConnell wasn't willing.

And today, since republicans arent doing anything to prevent russian meddling in 2020 election, we can assume they want it.
