Due to the national medical emergency which didn't end until last year, and title 42 was revoked. Biden keep most all of those provisions in place until the emergency was over too.

That bill would do nothing to seal the border, it allowed 5000 illegal entries per day. It also sent more billions into shithole Ukraine. It also included a provision to allow the president to increase the 5000/day if "he thought it prudent". it was terrible legislation and should have been vote down as it was.

Right now 10,000 to 20,000 can cross a day....there are no limits on how many in a caravan can cross in a day.

5000 cap before it triggers an automatic shut down is enormously better than what we have now, because you failed to pass this bipartisan bill for solely political posturing!

It is a really good bill, with lots of measures that would curb the chaos at the border, stop and catch more traffickers of drugs, reduce immigration Court dates from 5 years down to 6 months, limit who can make claim to be asylum seekers more so than today, with building more detention centers to eventually eliminate catch and release until court hearing, add more border patrol, add more Port entry border crossing agents add more border wall...

It was a once in a lifetime, missed opportunity border bill that would have passed in both houses of Congress and signed in to law....
