What have they been eating?

Russians and Ukrainians have been eating high levels of starch in their food for many decades. There is no difference between them. Americans are eating chemical non-foods and although the visual effects are the same it's the Yankees who are dying of cancer by the thousands, not the Russian-Ukrainians. The end result of the Americans and the Ukrainians is that Americans perish due to food intake while the Ukrainians are dying on the no-win battlefield. Russians, on the other hand will be the last men standing: Fat but alive.
