Pretty simple really:

1. Everything I command you that you shall be careful to do it. You shall neither add to it, nor subtract from it.
2. If there will arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of a dream, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, [walking on water, water into wine, resurrection, etc.]
3. and the sign or the wonder of which he spoke to you happens, [and he] says, "Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us worship them," [like worshipping Yeshua as G-d instead of G-d]
4. you shall not heed the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of a dream; for the [L-rd], your [G-d], is testing you, to know whether you really love the [L-rd], your [G-d]
5. You shall follow the [L-rd], your [G-d], fear Him, keep His commandments, heed His voice, worship Him, and cleave to Him.
6. And that prophet, or that dreamer of a dream shall be put to death; because he spoke falsehood about the [L-rd], your [G-d] Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and Who redeemed you from the house of bondage, to lead you astray from the way in which the [L-rd], your [G-d], commanded you to go; so shall you clear away the evil from your midst.
- Deuteronomy 13

He had people following Him which essentially was bad for business for the Jewish leaders.

Treason. Apparently preaching the Kingdom of God reconciliation with the Father was blasphemy worthy of death.

Wouldn't it just be easier to say "Jesus was an evil liar and charlatan".

And perhaps you haven't heard, but rumor has it that there were no Jews within 500 miles of Al-Quds and the Romans were too busy in the vomitorium to be off reading D--t-r-n-m and sometines "-".

He kinda wanted to redistribute the wealth to the poor folk and that woulda mucked up the flow of ducats of the Romans...and the Jews, who actually were no where to be seen and had nothing to do with it. It was all the work of the Italians.

You're closer to the Truth than anyone else in this forum. God had His prophets write about us saints getting killed for our testimony of the invisible Christ within our mind. Especially when we get some religious people listening to our testimony that come out of the churches of satan, or beast ( false gods built with human hands ). The religious leaders grow to hate us preaching about their false gods and disobeying the commandments of God but our believers listen to us and agree that there is a Creator who we're supposed to obey, even though believers can't obey His commandments like us saints have to.

Wrong.

Isaiah 53:4 ¶ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Closest answer so far.

Insurrection. Challenging the authority of Rome. The "Kingdom of God on Earth" meant just that, literally. That's why he was crucified -- a punishment reserved by Rome for that sort of thing. He was a political prisoner plain and simple.

That was a made up charge.

The stories of Holy Week include Jesus' entrance on Palm Sunday fulfilling Zechariah's prophecy that a king would enter Jerusalem riding a donkey. "He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war-horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations." (Zechariah 9:10) The procession with royal trappings happened right under the tower of the Roman military headquarters. The political significance could not be missed.

Did He do it? No. It is future.

Whether the charge was legitimate or not would be another question. But it does answer the OP question. The Romans conducted the execution, therefore their reason is the answer.

Matthew 27:37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Maybe they were trying to accuse Pilot but Pilot accused them back.

Right. That's what I'm saying. Rome wasn't about to tolerate "kings".

Maybe they were trying to accuse Pilot but Pilot accused them back.

I can't make any sense out of that

If they were accusing Pilot of not doing anything against an insurrection, they were basically tying Pilot's hands into doing something so Pilate blamed it on the Jews by calling Jesus their King (their insurrectionist).

The bible was put together by the Romans(Constantine and his priests were Roman). It was the Romans that crucified Jesus. And 99% of today's christians buy the Roman version of Christianity. They also follow Paul(Sol), a Roman that killed and persecuted Christians, before claiming to be an apostle, and wrote half of the New Testament. It's much easier for most christians to believe what they are told, rather than seek the truth.

Pilate wasn't the one put to death. Doesn't matter how the Romans viewed him in the incident. And if Pilate blamed something (what? the temple riot?) on "the Jews", then "the Jews" would have to be executed. Doesn't make sense.

I thought the question was fairly simple-- the local Roman government conducted the execution and the question was on what grounds, right? So the answer is for leading or being the figurehead for an insurrection against the power of Rome. They were not known for tolerating a "king" within their Empire. Rome was all about control.

Judea was under the Roman thumb for some three hundred years and kept a watchful eye; anyone who made noises about community organizing within that time was going to be quickly put down if they did so overtly, so they would have to do it stealthily, under a guise of something else, like religion. Hardly the only time that's been done.

Rome didn't care about their subjects' religious practices and left them alone. At some point (the Passover riot) whether that religious pretense came off or whether Rome simply saw a popular movement fomenting, it reacted. The local population was about to swell for that holiday so they were not going to have one of their colonies in the far-flung empire spin out of control, especially before they had gotten their reinforcements in. So they picked out the guy they perceived to be at the center of (this particular) insurrection, and there's your execution.

Hey Vox

If the question was what's the correct ignition timing on a 1962 Chevy 327 V-8... would the answer be "yammer yammer leftard yammer"?

Do you have any actual ideas, or is that it?

This isn't even a political thread. Jesus Christ.
