'El Gordo' is also a "Fat One" for the Spanish Government

The tax on this year's Christmas lottery prizes will generate 188 million euros for state coffers, according to tax inspectors union Gestha.

The Spanish government will also get 30 per cent of the revenues from ticket sales, less the running costs, meaning the state will collect around 900 million euros from the draw.
