Usually the details are worked out through the embassies and emissaries, while the leaders dress up and smile for the cameras.

It should be quite the media event, though, and a nice distraction from republican Presidential candidates' yapping.

Xi will look out for the interests of China, our President will be looking out for our interests. On some issues, the interests are the same, on others, they are not. Might be a help for all is they took a realistic view of international politics, rather than the us versus them of the 'Conservatives';
