Love those squad car dash cams, now if we can just get ALL cops to wear body cameras, this shit will stop.

Texas grand jury indicts officer in case of Sandra Bland's death
Texas grand jury indicts officer in case of Sandra Bland's death

HEMPSTEAD, Texas (AP) — A Texas state trooper was charged with perjury on Wednesday in connection to a contentious traffic stop last summer where a black woman wound up arrested for assault and then died three days later in jail.

A grand jury indicted Trooper Brian Encinia with the misdemeanor count, alleging he lied about how he removed 28-year-old Sandra Bland from her vehicle during the July traffic stop. The same Waller County grand jury decided last month not to indict any sheriff's officials or jailers in Bland's death, which was ruled a suicide.

The Chicago-area woman remained jailed following her arrest because she couldn't raise about $500 for bail. Encinia, who has been on paid desk duty since Bland was found dead in her jail cell, also faces a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Bland's family.

The misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Encinia, who is white, pulled Bland over on July 10 for making an improper lane change near Prairie View A&M University, her alma mater, where she had just interviewed and accepted a job. Dashcam video from Encinia's patrol car shows that the traffic stop quickly became confrontational.

At one point, the video shows the trooper holding a stun gun and yelling, "I will light you up!" after Bland refuses to get out of her car. Bland eventually steps out of the vehicle, and Encinia orders her to the side of the road. The confrontation continues off-camera but is still audible.

Great, they convicted a Trooper for misdemeanor lying. Think about how many convictions for lying we could get if all politicians had to wear body cams.
None. Colon Powell was on vid at the UN and he's never spent a day in the Big House as a result.

First off, Encinia is Hispanic. Therefore, it isn't a, "white thing".

Second, this is just some dog and pony show bullshit.

She still hung herself. No cameras around. Case closed.

Was she the woman who had depression issues already? I remember something on our news about this, I'm sure it said she had depression issues.

He didn't lie. The jury said they just didn't believe what he said the reason was for taking her out. Prosecuting his THOUGHTS.

SCOTUS ruling Maryland vs Wilson. Cops dont have to have a reason to remove you from a car on a lawful stop.

This indictment is such a joke....it won't make it past the preliminary hearing.

Did a BLM loser get his wings?

Nobidy matters wgen they choose not to follow the rules.
Considering the arresting cop's supervisors say he didn't follow the rules, Bucs might be a tad irate at you indicating the cop doesn't matter. I on the other hand admire your impartiality and agree the arresting cop no longer matters.

Dude, just admit it: he is a cop, therefore you will defend him. He could have blasted her with a Taser, yanked her out of the car, raped her on camera, shot her 14 times in the back while she was laying on the ground...and you'd defend it. Cops can do no wrong in your eyes.
