Think of it sort of like winning in court: the losing party to the suit has to pay in dollars since they cannot compensate for the injured party's real pain.

I don't follow football, but don't the players work for the owner(s) of the team they play for? It would be their responsibility to discipline a member of the team, not necessarily the NFL. Someone tell me I am wrong or that all NFL football players are paid by and work for the NFL.
