News report from KCBS has learned that Saint Mary’s Cathedral, the principal church of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, has installed a watering system to keep the homeless from sleeping in the cathedral’s doorways.

The cathedral, at Geary and Gough, is the home church of the Archbishop. There are four tall side doors, with sheltered alcoves, that attract homeless people at night."

Wonder what was being left out of this story? The many things the San Francisco Catholic Church and community is doing to help the homeless. (I learned a lot just from taking time to enter a couple of clicks.)

This next part I know from true experience, although it did not take place in San Francisco, or at a Church. Imagine the homeless, despite other available alternatives, chose your child's school grounds to sleep on overnight. The next morning your child is wrinkling his nose due to the smell of urine and averts his eyes from human defecation that is also present.

I think KCBS should offer their own grounds and doorways to the homeless for a few weeks, and then revisit the story.

Note, if the Catholic community was not helping the homeless, or doing very little in this regard, it would be a nice heads up to organize and do something.

Gay groups aren't charities like churches. Isn't on them to be charitible and do the "Christian thing." Like not dousing homeless people seeking refuge at it.

Have seen the frivilous things bigger churches waste parishoners' monies on. Like gold and finery.
