1st sign of abuse of stimulus money--

In my local newspaper this morning--a report came out that in my state of Colorado out of the 3 billion in stimulus money that we will be receiving. 500 MILLION will be going to build a new bridge that services a KOA campground. Oh Boy--"we really needed that" & I can't wait to drive over that bridge to get to that campground!! Whoopie!

Not only that but the state of Colorado is very worried because they do not have their computers set up to handle all those zero's we'll be receiving. Now they're worried about accounting for all these designated "projects" that the Federal Government wants us to do, where to spend all this money--& let alone how to account for it.

I want to thank all you taxpayers, along with your unborn grandchildren for this bridge.

Wanna bet--how many other bridges to nowhere we're going to build?

I was wondering why the right wasn't calling out any of the pork in this stimulus bill. Finally! Ok, so lets scrap this program. Obama said there would be transparency, and they would make sure that the money wasn't wasted.

So, I'm willing to bet if this really is a bridge to knowhere, the project will be scrapped.

But maybe its not a bridge to knowhere. Maybe it is a good project.

But if it isn't, you should call your Reps in Colorado and scrap it.

Isn't this fun being involved in the process?

Don't cry to us that Colorado is pissing the money they were given away.

Have a better idea give the 500 million to Detroit what the heck don't they need a bridge to get out of town

And no one has answered my question. How many jobs will this bridge create?

should the government open up a bike shop just because it will create jobs?

Do you have any idea how bad it is out there? People are spending weeks, months applying for jobs and they can't find them. Not the best educated, but good, hard-working Americans that are willing to put in an honest day's work.

I don't care how stupid the idea sounds to some of you to build that bridge, if it creates thousands of jobs, I say build it.

"Some might consider it Colorado Springs' bridge to nowhere.

The "nowhere" in this case is an RV park on the west side that can be reached only by crossing the Golden Lane Road bridge, a narrow metal and wood span over Fountain Creek that will be replaced at a cost to taxpayers of $584,000"

And how many jobs is that creating?

A negative number. $500B could create a lot more jobs in the private market. Think what Intel could do with $500B.

Oh well, you're obviously of the mindset that what didn't work under the Republicans will work under the Democrats. Clearly, Republicans were lacking hope.

so the government can simply create a monument in the middle of nowhere, spend 500 million on it as long as it create jobs?

good lord that is not what this country is about

um, it's a $584,000 bridge. not $500MM, not $500B, but five hundred and eighty four thousand. federal money involved is less than that.

although i agree that david's a dope on general principles.
