No, they aren't, but they ARE methods of execution that have been used before, and ICD likes to cover all possible bases. Just because it's highly unlikely that we'll go from lethal injection to Madame La Guillotine doesn't mean it's impossible.

Generally speaking, the code is used to bill for the services of the doctor at the execution, whatever method is actually used.

It's far from the only unusual thing in the ICD codes. As I say, they prefer to have all possibilities covered, just in case.

Again, they're listing methods of execution. And then they have a generic "or anything else" at the end, just in case we suddenly decide to execute people Salem Witch style.

ICD codes EVERYTHING, just in case.

If I remember correctly from coding school, they have one for being sucked into a jet engine.
