2013 Q4 GDP drops from 3.2% to 2.4% in new estimate « Hot Air

There are adjustments, and then there are adjustments. The difference between the advance and interim GDP estimates from the Bureau of Economic Analysis qualifies as the latter. Instead of a moderate-growth annualized rate of 3.2% as reported last month, the economy only grew at the stagnation level of 2.4%:

Recovery. Obie style.

Any of you obie voters feeling incredibly stupid yet?

Well of course it did. You don't expect a genius like Odummer to actually have a feasible plan for recovery.

Ha! :D

And how much of that drop was caused by the govt shut down and the threat to default?

And the birthrate will probably go up too. "Baby its cold outside."

Ponder this for a couple minutes, how does something drop from one point to another in a single point in time? GDP traveled faster than then speed of light?

YAWN'

the Loser Left has endless excuses for their stupidity and failures.

if this LWNJ could think for himself; or the intellectual honesty of a normal person; he would already know obama's rosy economic numbers are almost always adjusted DOWNWARD. it's been going on for years with the liar in the White House

i'm pretty sure it dropped over the length of the quarter; not all at once

You said almost and that is incorrect. Little obie's numbers are always lowered right after he takes his fake parade lap cheering the recovery.

Ack, no diss to Mike, and I'm not a fan of Obama on the economy (nor the knownothing house of reps, beyond congressman camp), but anyone who didn't see a drop in forecasts due to the gop shutdown and historic low temps ....

the good news is that assuming GM can produce cars that don't kill people, the lost gnp will be "rediscovered" come spring .... assuming spring comes.

Wait, wait, wait. Before the thread getting going too far and too fast let's look at a small misrepresentation in the title, "2013 Q4 GDP drops from 3.2% to 2.4%". That does not even make any sense. Don't make me bring back the talking horse. :cranky:

It didn't drop. The administration ran out there with the rosiest number they could possibly fake together. The reason being they will get the "it's a recovery!" sound bites out and the corrected (read real) numbers will be ignored. The left wing idiots like to be treated this way, they like being told fairy tales.

"OBAMA!" In other words, wtf are you talking about?

It's called "The Broken Window Fallacy" (look it up)

Whatever money wasn't spent during the shutdown either got spent somewhere else or got spent only slightly later.

Grow up, guys.

Come.On.
