I doubt many here remember that bleak time in American history when Americans serving at the American embassy in Tehran were held prisoner for 444 days. I was painfully aware of it as I was stationed at the American embassy in Vienna at the same time. I served with those whose friends were being abused by the Iranians in the name of their new supreme leader, a cleric who had returned to Iran after The Peanut Farmer had stabbed the Shah – and the Iranian people – in the back.
Well, deep within that monstrous new spending bill is a section where the 53 victims are finally going to get some compensation for their pain and suffering – then and now.
