The follies of central planning are well known by the economically educated. Just take a look at the Index of Economic Freedom.

It seems to me like liberals stick their fingers in their ears and say "Lalalalalala you hate poor people" when us conservatives talk about the virtues of free enterprise and economic freedom.

Why don't they realize that socialism and big government fail?

Science/tech - nearly all of the innovations in these are done in the PRIVATE SECTOR. The lightbulb, the personal computer, the cell phone, and the skyscraper weren't government projects.
When it comes to infrastructure, I'd like to point out that Rockefeller built a road to Key West that still works well now, while the government-built road constantly breaks down (thank you, libertarian 10th grade physics teacher for showing me the light and giving me this example).
We think infrastructure should be based at the local level. Truth is, federal money comes with great strings attached. The bureaucracy is ridiculous...........ask the people who lose millions thanks to the tyrants of the EPA taking away all of their land.

Government didn't create science or technology, and public education is the biggest failure ever conceived of.

You've got to be kidding me. The American Revolution was fought because taxes were too high and people were sick of the tyranny of King George III. Yes, Washington did support a stronger government than under the Articles of Confederation, but he was massively more for economic freedom than the leaders of pretty much any other country. The federal government was at ~2% of GDP at that time.

As for science/engineering/education, nearly all the innovations come from the private sector. And with public education, the quality is really varied. Where I live, there's good public schools, but in nearby Gary or Hammond, they're awful.

I doubt Limpballs has ever spoken with a Cuban, but I do have a friend who spent time there on a cultural exchange project. He said that the general consensus was while they would like to have higher wages, they also didn't have to worry about going bankrupt if they got sick.

Except for having to stop for red lights and obey no smoking signs, the OP is right, Americans will not accept forced behavior. That's why America has so few laws and so few courts. We also know that Nations that have health care have forced behavior and the people suffer.
