I'd hope you'd at least be armed with a grammar book before you got out of your car to ask everyone in the street what party they were registered with.

I thought they was gonna start jumping on his car and they instead gave him a wide birth.

I found interesting the apparent surprise expressed in this statement:

'He was allowed to drive away alive'

As if he had no right to leave the scene without being murdered.
