He goes on to suggest: "What the United States fears the most is taking casualties". Basically, like Japan before they attacked Pearl Harbor; they believe America is weak and soft. It's not hard to see how they could think this when you have so many so-called "progressives" and people afraid of speech and defending their sovereignty even at your own borders.

The West may not have the kind of men we had in the 1940's but I am sure (hope) we still have the stomach to deal with a threat, no matter how big the nation.

A reminder why America must succeed, your military capacity cannot be compromised.

Sinking US aircraft carriers will resolve tension in South China Sea, says Chinese admiral

The deputy head of a Chinese military academy told an audience in Shenzhen last month that tensions in the South China Sea could be resolved by sinking a pair of U.S. aircraft carriers, reports said.

"What the United States fears the most is taking casualties," said Rear Admiral Lou Yuan, deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, news.com.au reported. He said sinking one carrier would kill 5,000 and sinking two would double that number.

Brad Glosserman, a China expert and professor at Tokyo’s Tama University, said Lou’s comments reflect a growing belief in China that the United States has lost its stomach for war, according to a report from military.com.

The Chinese believe that "Americans have gone soft … [they] no longer have an appetite for sacrifice and at the first sign of genuine trouble they will cut and run," Glosserman said.

In his speech, Loui said there were "five cornerstones of the United States" open to exploitation: their military, their money, their talent, their voting system -- and their fear of adversaries, according to the news.com.au report.

The US hasn't won a war since WWII, and even then needed lots of help.

Our military is far from soft and unlike China has been fighting wars for decades.

I doubt they would attack a US aircraft carrier. They surely would awaken a sleeping Giant just as Japan did.

If Pupps were Prez, Beijing would be cruised before the carrier hit the bottom.

I get the humour (assuming that is a joke), though I wonder if this is a laughing matter.

China is now talking openly about "reunification" with Taiwan. When you are speaking this openly, it's to test the waters on how it is received. These Commies have big plans, and I believe the U.S presence there goes beyond the Southern Sea issue. This is about Taiwan, Japan and others.

This is why I support Japans new actions to militarize. They have a right to defend themselves, and unlike WW2, China will be the aggressor.

China is benefitting off of an economy that is unprecidented in their history

Starting wars with countries that are your primary markets is counter productive
