I get your arguments, although I doubt Hannity will have an impact. Anyone who would be influenced by Hannity is probably going to vote for the president regardless. He is not going to influence moderates.

I don't know if it's going to be Biden. Not being a Democrat I won't be voting in that primary. I'll just have to wait and see who the candidates actually are before deciding.

I firmly believe it will be Warren and if so and if Trump is the candidate for the GOP in 2020 or even Pence then I will go third party again...

I love Joe. He's probably the last Mensch in politics - at least one of the last of a fast dwindling species giving way to hordes of cynical apparatchiks. That said, I hope he won't be the nominee, not for his gaffes or any other hysterical crap thrown at him, but because he hasn't quite the vision for the U.S. I am hoping for.

Hunter is sort of the problematic figure in the Biden family. Having lost his younger sibling and his mother at an early age in a car crash, and his older brother some years ago, his life and business ventures haven't sailed all that smoothly, to put it gently. I would hope he stays out of his father's career, such as it will be, for the better of all.

It's not illegal to pay off someone for trading on their name unless the payoff actually got a change in policy.

the only difference is Biden is running on being the anti-Trump. My question essentially was whether that stance required him to toe a higher ethical standard? Or if the issue one has for not voting for Trump is simply his personal corruption and "restoring honor" can Biden be the guy?

Twenty years ago I would have voted for Biden but now I can not and why?

1. Age and the fact he is showing signs of deterioration in his mental state which is concerning and should ring alarm bells for anyone reading and listening to Biden.

2. Biden roll in the firing of the Prosecutor should not surprise anyone and should have not hurt him but running against Trump while having talking heads like Hannity spinning this will hurt him.

3. Biden is a career politician and again age is a factor in my decision. I believe Democrats would be better served nominating someone like Gavin Newsom than running with Biden, Warren or Sanders.

I think that's more a separate issue. I'm not sure Obama succeeded in putting a time out of govt limitation on taking a lobbying job. I didn't try to create a thread about "both sides do it." The Trumpsuckers like PH choose to ignore Trump and his kids' corruption. But Trump actually uses his office to get people to stay at his hotels, for example, and personally enrich him. NOBODY accused Biden of that level of corruption. Trump is personally dirty.

But until PH chose to LIE, I was happy to let that fact "lie." or lay. I dunno. LOL

I think you ought to separate things more clearly.

As you rightly note, Trump profits personally from the office via "things" associated with him, namely his hotels (etc.).

Can Joe be said to profit in the same way? All he got from Hunter's employment at Burisma is a huge headache. So, Joe profits in no way, quite the contrary, as far as I can see.

There is a suspicion that Hunter would not have gotten the job at Burisma, were it not for the Biden family name. The question now is, does Hunter getting that job, possibly for being the son of Joe, cast a shadow on Joe? That's not the case. At least it is not unless Joe intervened, corruptly, with Burisma in favor of Hunter's employment. No one, so far, even alleges that happened.

All we see happening is innuendo and guilt by association. Not to mention, spluttering apoplexy.
