As the U.S.struggles to find a HC system that would please everyone, we find that the only ONES who truly benefit are the insurance companies and hospital associations that have screwed us for decades. Bearing in mind that we shell out more tax dollars (quadruple of most other industrialized countries) and still rank 34th in longevity and morbidity, the index below should be a wake-up call to the elected officials in DC who tomorrow will be voting in yet another mostly worthless HC bill. When it comes to the mantra about American "exceptionalism," health care delivery is NOT an issue we should brag about.

Excellent point Naters! There are a few things EVERY country ahead of US on your chart has in common with respect to their healthcare system. Their systems cover a much smaller population, a much less diverse population either geographically or culturally or both. Maybe the US should try to mimic what they are doing and come up with more regional healthcare systems which can more closely address the needs of citizens rather than a "one size fits all". One more interesting consideration, the US provides more research and development with respect to healthcare than any other country in the world, and more than all of Europe combined. In other words, the US pays for medical advances and the rest of the world benefits without any added cost.

I mostly agree.....although Europe and Australia are often reported in the Journals on Medicine for those areas involvement in health related research. For example, European doctors are no longer stressing the "baby-aspirin" preventive regimen for adults, but the US......under pressure from aspirin makers......keep on stressing the use, etc.

I guess our poor healthcare system is the reason why NOBODY wants to come here.

Please pass the word out to The World at Large.

How come Americans are not flooding Cuba to get healthcare?
Oh yeah, your list is bullshit. Cuban hospitals:

DUMB response..........

Here's an equally skewed factoid

About 440,000 people die in the United States each year as a result of a preventable hospital error.

10 Cities Where You Don’t Want to Get Sick
Where's that mass exodus to get Cuban healthcare?
Oh yeah, airlines cut all flights to Cuba back to minimum levels because no one is going there.

True.......If you're a millionaire from somewhere outside of the US, coming to America is recommended.

Im with weather. Cuba before US? Give me a fucking break
30 minute flight from Miami to Havana, yet no one is flying to Cuba for healthcare. The list is pure BS because they use equality as their measuring tool rather than the level of healthcare the average person gets. No one getting an antibiotic is much better than if 2% are unable to get an antibiotic in a socialists mind.

The US Health Care System was forever destroyed when Obama ands his band of socialists rammed a minority-supported Socialist Agenda-driven, lie-based BS bill that stripped more power of choice from citizens and gave it to government down the throats of the majority of Americans who opposed it.

Democrats never read the bill before they voted on it. Americans were lied to about the bill and the process to pass it from the very start. Before the ink from his signature on the ACA was even dry Obama had begun signing thousands of waivers, and Congress had already illegally exempted themselves from yet another law they had imposed on the American people but one they recognized as so bad they wanted nothing to do with it.

That health care system - the only one that exists after Democrats destroyed the pre-existing one and replaced it with the ACA - is now COLLAPSING! It is failing, dying, and has no hope of surviving. If something I snot done it will collapse, leaving Americans with no existing health care system. THIS is Obama's and the Democrats' gift to the American people and the 'Legacy' that has been dumped into the laps of the GOP to deal with.

Democrats are desperate to shed it's responsibility for this albatross, so they are attempting to shift the blame for the pain of the collapse and the need for a replacement plan onto the GOP. All the pain being felt right now by Americans because of the program THEY forced on the American people is THEIR doing. THEY still own it. Until the GOP takes any action that results in replacing the ACA, the Democrats continue to own it.

THAT being said...

AFTER 8 YEARS TO PREPARE / COME UP WITH A SOLUTION, the bumbling, incompetent, ill-prepared GOP is completely un-prepared to step in and provide an agreed-upon replacement for the ACA.

After 8 years they have failed to have a plan in-hand with which to replace the ACA. Push-back and attempts to undermine and sabotage any plan by Democrats was expected...but to have their own party so divided on the plan Ryan has brought forward is down-right pathetic. They should have had an agree-upon (mostly) plan in-hand waiting for the potential election win, ready to go...after 8 years.

The GOP has proven they are far worse at trying to fix things than the DNC are at f*ing them up.

Between the DNC ramming unwanted, disastrous bills into law and the GOP's inability to repair the damage, our health care is irreparably broken. I predict it will NEVER be as 'good' as it was again....and not because of a Democrat or a GOP thing. They have both proven they are incapable of putting the American people 1st and do what is right for them.

I'm not suggesting other countries don't contribute to advancing healthcare, but the US spends 40% of the worldwide total on medical/biomedical R&D, yet we only make up 5% of the population. Other countries benefit disproportionately to our cost of R&D.

Many never wanted it but were FORCED by Obama to buy it. And the people who could not afford it were monetarily punished...which makes a helluva lot of sense. lol

Right on cue.
No one being able to obtain an aspirin equally is a leftist healthcare utopia.

We here in the US pay for health care that we don't get. I didn't realize just how true this is until I got an ear infection while in Brussels and couldn't fly until it was treated.

It really was an eye opening experience.

For 6+ years, the Rs have been telling us they have a better plan than ObamaCare. We've known all along they were lying and now that's been proven.

More and more trumpkins are realizing they made a terrible mistake. We came so close to being able to save the middle class and catch up to the rest of the world.

With Trumpcare everyone will get a $2500 annual savings, get to keep their plan and doctor they like and healthcare problems will go away.
