Lately, most opening posts having anything to do with the upcoming election haven't been following the guidelines. "Bait" threads belong downstairs (Rubber Room or Badlands). If you start a thread anywhere upstairs, at a minimum, the rules state the following:
  • "Zone 2":All other forums not specified as Zone 1 or Zone 3: Baiting and polarizing opening posts and thread titles risk the thread being locked, moved, or trashed. Keep it relevant, choose wisely. Replies must contain significant and specific thread topic content to advance the discussion. No trolling. No hit and run flames. No hijacking or derailing threads. (Trolling means discussing another forum member(s) and not the topic of the thread.)
    • Titles and Opening Posts:
      • Titles and opening posts must be free of INFLAMMATORY words, name calling, and "pet names".
      • Content in opening posts must be 2 sentences or more and must contain the opinion of the member starting the thread. "Get a load of this" is not sufficient topical content. Summarize the topic to be discussed and why you think it needs discussion.
"Bait" threads are when the title and/or opening post is worded in such a way that it is meant to and causes people to react negatively.
Mods have been spending a great amount of time explaining to some of you over and over why your thread was moved, closed, etc. Some of you actually listen to us and have done much better.

For those that have ignored us and refuse to follow the rules ... challenge accepted! You will be dealt with accordingly.

What about a very "vague" thread title. Ex: "You won't believe this!" and then you open it and it was nothing you would have wanted to read. I report them. :)

Yes, report those as well. They do not follow the guidelines.

You've gotta thin out the forum wrecking balls for keeps.

Otherwise...

And, of course, the wrecking ball just keeps on swinging and you're never going to be able to maintain any sort of meaningful, relevant dialogue where genuinely serious people would want to come to discuss topical content regarding any of the critical issues of the day beyond the level of a fifth grader. It's why the wrecking balls do it in the first place. The wrecking balls do not want meaningful, relevant dialogue regarding the issues. They only want flotsam and jetsam. They're not interested in any sort of dialogue that could be considered deeper than a mud puddle. And, so, you get what you get..

That so many are so perfectly willing to swalow the bait and play along with them by responding in kind for twenty pages only helps them to keep the place so Romper Roomish in that regard and that is another discussion entirely in that it really is reflective of the sad state of affairs regarding the American electorate itself.

While I'm thinking on it, and directly in-line with what Freedomisneverfree had mentioned in post #3...

Pawning off an hour long youtube video as a source to topical content, without even the courtesy of a description, where the only way you'd even know what the OP is talking about in his/her two liner thread (usually offered in the form of a redundant question) is to sit through the whole thing.

I, for one, am not gonna watch an hour long youtube video to find whatever thirty second segment of it the OP wants people to babble about.

That's like chasing a ball around.

Kiss my ass with that silliness. I am not chasing your ball around...
