Why does America support communist Vietnam?

Vietnam's Communist Party boss 'to run unopposed' - BBC News

The General Secretary of Vietnam's Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong, will be the only candidate for the post at a party congress, state media report.

The Practicalities of US Military Sales to Vietnam

A few extra minutes with the president and musing about change might not seem like much when set against the shear novelty of the Vietnamese Communist Party secretary general actually visiting D.C., but these examples speak to the pragmatism which will make the once unthinkable sale of American weapons systems to Vietnam a reality. What’s driving it?
The obvious answer is China. But it’s not the only answer. Consider that, as Trong pointed out, the United States — not China — is Vietnam’s largest trading partner. In 2014, that trade amounted to $36 billion. In this context, prospective American foreign military sales (FMS) to Vietnam are merely an expansion of the two countries’ existing trade relationship.

All this noted, do you agree with US arms sales to communist Vietnam, and do you agree with any of the trade deals with communist Vietnam?

I'm confused....

I thought that when we trade with other countries, we were exploiting the poor, and stealing their resources, and ruining their country with our goods......? Right?

There's Blood in Your Phone - Blood Coltan | Alternative

Isn't that what the leftists always say? We're destroying these people by trading with them?

Isn't trade with China supposedly destroying our country?

Let's destroy Vietnam with Free-Trade then.

Beside, the left-wing of our country killed our servicemen, by not allowing them to fight the enemy. We're more to blame for that whole thing than they are.

I forgive, and move on. Free-trade. No entangling alliances.

So you support lifting the embargo on Cuba?

I agree with all trade with Vietnam today because they are siding with the Philippines against China over the South China Sea oil.

Regardless of the fact your country tried to remove their government, lost for whatever reason, but is now going to allow arms sales?

Will those arms be used in a future war against America?
They've just bought two subs, both could easily be a major danger to a US carrier fleet, and they are still the same government that you tried to remove.

The US switched sides, who's to say they won't?

So you support lifting the embargo on Cuba?

Given it was all done for political reasons, and America was always the aggressor, you should both do that and apologise for your invasions, assisting terrorist acts and an attempted coup.

So yes, tomorrow morning.

Well of course. See left-wing stupidity is a childish belief system. Every single time left-wing ideology takes control in any country throughout history, throughout all the world... it fails. People end up impoverished, and the country ends up in ruins.

But... left-wing people are childish.

It's like an alcoholic. His entire life is shattered, his family hates him, his wife divorces him, his boss fires him, he's evicted from his apartment, the car is repo'd, and on and on and on.... But if you tell him you would loan him $400 to pay his car payment, and then you look at his situation and realize you are giving a drunk a drink, and say you are not going to pay his car payment......

What happens? Everything that goes wrong in his world, he'll blame on you. No matter how much destruction and ruination he brought on himself, you lied about paying his car payment, so everything is your fault.

This is how it is with left-wing people. Cuba has absolutely ruined itself with socialism. Just flat out, destroyed their entire country from the inside out.

But do the left-ards realize this? No. It's the US fault. They have the embargo. Like any childish person, like an alcoholic trying to shift blame for his choices.... it's the US embargo fault. This is exactly what the Cuban government has been saying for decades. No matter how bad things get, no matter how terrible their economy is, or how impoverished the people are.... it's the US embargo.

The excuse is laughable and pathetic... just like most left-wing people. But nevertheless, it's effective. Excuses always work for the left.

So yes, take away the embargo. Embargos are ineffective anyway. Cuba sells to many countries, and many countries trade with Cuba. We certainly haven't seen that trade sanctions worked with Iran.

And besides all of that, Cuba is becoming more capitalist by the minute. Wages are rising, most people work in the private sector. Cuba is yet another example of how capitalism always works, and socialism always fails.

The fact they are becoming more prosperous even with the embargo, seems to completely destroy the left-wing excuse making for the past decades.

Sorry for the long response, but Cuba is one of my favorite topics as of late.

I wasn't asking you. You're an America hating douchebag and I could care less about your opinion.

So prove me wrong, explaining when and how Cuba attacked the US of A.
In fact there were no Cuban attacks against America, only American attacks against Cuba, including CIA terrorist attacks, one downing a civilian airliner.

Perhaps America should at least apologise for mass murder.

I'm in favor of opening trade with Cuba idiot. Again, I wasn't asking you.

However Castro is a monster and to deny that is to deny reality. I come from a Cuban family, I know how fucked up Castro and his regime are. Kennedy was a pussy for pullingsupport for those fighting against Castro.

First off, it wasn't the CIA. It was Cuban exiles, that attacked Cuba, with the help of the CIA.

There wouldn't have been any Cuban exiles, if Castor hadn't been slaughtering his own people.

And what civilian airliner are you referring to?

It's funny how no matter what happens, America is expected to apologize, but other people are not. While I'm not opposed to apologizing for accidents, or intentional acts, I really don't think that would solve anything... would it? If Obama today, stood up and said he apologized for the bay of pigs incident.... I highly doubt you would modify your tone whatsoever.

So why bother? You'll hate America no matter what we do, so why should anyone care that you think we should apologize for our existence?

Lets see try oh around the fall of 1962, roughly mid to late October.
