Were they Mormons? No. Were they trying to make a buck? Yes. There will always be people willing to buy things like this without proof. Here’s a news flash, Joseph Smith never sold the gold plates given to him by God. Never sold them for money. Today, faithful Latter-day Saints have signs and tokens in which we don’t sell them for money either. They are worth more than all the gold in the universe. Yet, there are a few who have done so. Very sad to lose the priceless pearls of great price worth more than their lives. Joseph was tarred and feathered, tortured, kicked out of their homes and assassinated , as were others for bringing forth the Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great Price. And with this, many other Mormons over the century(s) has been tortured, made fun of and murdered while bringing forth the fulness of the gospel unifying the true doctrines that all Christians have been fighting and killing over while making filthy lucre.
