Zone1 Are There Prophets Around Today?

It's pretty amazing how the entire Old Testament set the stage for what happened in the new Testament. There are a whole bunch of references in the OT to the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, some written over a thousand years before He was even born.

There's no mention of Jesus in the old testament.

You're having prophecies?
False prophesies from false prophets......whose father is the God of this world (2 Cor. 4:4).....Satan. "Even him, whose coming is after the works of Satan with all power and signs and wonders. And with deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie......" -- 2 Thess. 2:9-11

These false prophets......."tickle their own ears". "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap upon themselves teachers having itching ears; and they shall turn away from the truth, and shall be turned away unto fables....." -- 2 Tim. 4:3-4

There's no mention of Jesus in the old testament.
The Old Testament predicts a coming "Messiah". The first promise was made to Adam when God told Adam that He would send a descendant of Adam to bruise the head of Satan (Genesis 12:3) though the lineage of king David God promised David that a ......ruler of a kingdom that will last forever would be established (2 Sam. 11:12-13) Jesus Himself claimed to have fulfilled these prophesies (John 5:39,46, Luke 24:44-45).

The Apostles of Christ also preached that Jesus Christ fulfilled the Old Testament prophesies concerning the Messiah (Acts 3:18,21,24, 10:43,13:27,17:2-3)

Details matter. The Old Testament declares that the Messiah would come during the Last Days of Mankind (Isa. 2:2, JOEL 2:28 (Peter declared the fulfillment of Joel's prophecy had come to pass on that day of Pentecost -- Acts 2:16-17, Heb. 1:1-3 ), Daniel 2:28). The last days and the coming of the promised Messiah would come BEFORE the nation of Israel was destroyed by Rome (Genesis 49:10)......Jesus the Messiah would establish the kingdom of God before Israel was wiped from the face of the earth and its tribes scattered around the globe....while Judah still controlled the "rulers staff".

Daniel stated that the coming kingdom of God would be established on earth in the days of the "forth Great world Empire..... history actual proves that empire was the Roman Empire of Jesus' day". -- Daniel 2:31-45

Micah declared that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). The scriptures declare that the Messiah's human lineage would be from a naturally born WOMAN (Genesis 3:15, Isa. 7:14, Gal. 4:4, Matt. 1:18-21. The Messiah's divine nature would come from the lineage of God (Isa. 9:6, Matt. 1:23) He was to come from the family of Abraham (Genesis 12:3, 22:18,Gal.3:8-16,4:4). FROM THE TRIBE OF JUDAH (Gen. 49:10) and from the HOUSE OF DAVID (2 Sam.7:12-13,23:1-7,Isa. 11:1,2, Acts 13:22-23)

The Messiah was to be called "THE SON OF GOD", signifying that the Messiah would have the same essence of divinity as the Father. (Ps. 2:7, Matt. 3:17,17:5, Heb. 1:6-8). The Messiah was equal to the Father and was to be worshiped as God. (Phil. 2:6, John 10:30)

The Prophets of the Old Testament told us that Messiah was to be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zech. 11:12-13, Isa. 53:7, 50:6, and Matthew 27) The Scriptures prophesied that the Messiah would be "crucified on the cross" (Ps. 22:15-18) The death of the Messiah would come from an "unjust" charge (Isa. 53:8, John 19:23-24). The Messiah would be scourged/beaten prior to death (Isa. 50:6). Soldiers would divide the clothing of the Messiah by casting lots (Ps. 22:18) The Messiah would be numbered among the criminals, thieves, etc., (Isa. 53:12)

The Old Testament scriptures are filled with fulfilled prophesies concerning the Messiah......that Jesus Christ fulfilled. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 200 Old Testament prophesies concerning the Messiah and His eternal kingdom.

Nowhere does it teach that Jesus was the last prophet to ever come to earth. Paul taught the following about the true church of Jesus Christ:

Ephesians 4:11-14
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Here we read that in the true church of Christ we should always find apostles and prophets, etc. for the perfecting of the saints until we all come to a unity of the faith and a knowledge of the Son of God unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. I don't think we have all come to that unity of faith and we have not come unto the measure and stature of the fullness of Christ. So, we should expect to see in the true church of Jesus Christ prophets and apostles until we come to that day. By this you can know if you are in the true church of Christ. If your church has no apostles or prophets, its a pretty safe bet that you are not in the true church.
Bullshit. Do you speak with other tongues?

You better sit this one out.
lol.... In the quote that I posted Jesus made it clear that he didn't think of himself as a king, messiah meaning something entirely different. 11 other verses written by confused people won't change that fact.

Would you like to see how many verses clearly state that the disciples didn't know what Jesus meant by the nutty things he said in a strange figurative language, the language of the prophets?

Like Hal Lindsey... False prophets can make a lot of money.

Cyrus Schofield was paid handsomely to write his Bible and futurism.. and founded the Dallas theological seminary and Moody Institute.

And in other quotes he clearly refers to "my kingdom". It appears Jesus couldn't keep his character straight, when he was playing it.

The Jews expected an anointed warrior king like king David who would vanquish the enemies of the Jews. Jesus didn't fit that description .

Hosea and Isaiah are not about Jesus at all. Hezekiah is Emmanuel. Christians make a mess of things when they fiddle with scripture.

The kingdom of Jesus is a spiritual kingdom..
And he is the king of it, by his own claim. And he made sure everyone knew his kingdom was more important than any earthly kingdom.

So really, his claim was even loftier than simply claiming to be a king.

The kingdom of Jesus is a spiritual kingdom.. that's very clear throughout the New Testament.

Right.

The firmament, basis, of the kingdom of Heaven, is the Law whose figurative words and hidden subjects stretch out way above the grasp of the delusional from horizon to horizon like a crystal clear vault.
