There are a lot of misconceptions about our nuclear weapons.

We do NOT have enough for MAD. If China and Russia nuked us, we are fucked. Russia can just retreat into Serbia. We do not have enough weapons to wipe out Russia. If China and Russia nuked us we would really be in trouble, we do not have enough to wipe out both nations. There are not enough nuclear weapons in existence to even kill everyone on earth. Studies saying otherwise are false based on poor data regarding where people live. No doubt we would knock the hell out of both of them, but inevitably, they would survive. We would not.

What we DO have that neither country does is anti-ICBM missiles. While inevitably some would get through, we could knock the hell out of those missiles before they could make landfall.
