I don't think we should involve race in it at all. Or at least for the majority of scholarships.

If Asians are getting all the academic scholarships because they have higher SAT/ACT scores and GPAs, then the white & hispanic parents have nothing to whine about.

One of my children had so much scholarship & grant money that he used it to pay for grad school after finishing his Bachelor's Degree.

It seems like Asians outperform all other races in terms of education. Soon they will get all well paid jobs so white and Hispanic Americans will have nothing to do but clean toilets in Burger King. That's a big problem we have there: on the one hand we definitely need to reduce the number of Asians getting into the colleges in order to keep American population diverse. On the other hand introducing racial quotas for Asians is against the main principles of democracy. What could be done here?

I work with a lot of decent, kind hardworking asians, who for the most part don't even need to work. A lot of them are business owners on the side and work just for either the insurance or because they want to. They don't complain, they're respectful....I just love these people.

Kudos to a race that adore this country, values its core foundation and who actually brings good to the table. You want to hate on anybody, this ain't the group.

OK, I have probably a lot more insight into the kids in college than most my age. I am 71, and taking classes toward a degree in geology. So the kids I see are mostly science and math majors. But they are all races, and mixes. Most are very admirable, and I find myself most envious of their ease with computers. I have had no experiances of them being disrespectful or contemptuos of me because of my age. And more than one of them have two jobs as well as taking two classes per quarter.

People, these kids are our future. You are their parents and grandparents. Their failure is your failure. So, before you go to badmouthing them, look in the mirror.

Well, maybe you are right. If they study well that means that they are good students. There should be no quotas for students of different races. Maybe it's okay for jobs but it's definitely not very good for education.

Quotas have been illegal since the SCOTUS 1978 Powell decision. The "Powell Decision" stated that schools could no longer use racial quotas, though it left open the practice of considering race in admissions to promote diversity.

While quotas are illegal and policies that consider race are increasing being challenged in court, many other policies are being adopted that can effect racial balance. For example, college scholarships will often give preference to very low income families increasing the number of black and Latino students who have the funds to attend college. School admission policies will often give preference to students from very low income families who have been able to achieve high grades in their schools but fall of short white and Asian American Students in better school. Then there are polices that guarantee admission of the top 4% of all high school graduating class at state colleges and universities. In my state there is a policy at one of the universities that guarantees admission to any student that is on the free lunch program for 4 years and also stays on the honor roll every semester.

There are many of these "racial neutral" plans where race never enters the decision but increases the admissions of blacks an Latinos at the expense white and Asian Americans.

Well.....we could do what socialists have done all around the world....gulags and death camps......

Why is it any of your business if Asians out perform people...because they work hard, sacrifice and get an education....?

Why do we need to do anything about who gets into college....I swear.....if you left wing democrats didn't have race as an issue you wouldn't have any issues.....
