At Appleseed events, we tell the story of dangerous old men, some of the aged veterans of King Georges War (1744-48) and the French and Indian War (1754-63), who turned out to fight on April 19, 1775. Despite their silvering hair and wrinkled skin, these veterans sent many a Redcoat to meet his maker that day, and one man, Hezekiah Wyman, was so deadly accurate that he was compared to Death himself.
The U.S. Army Marskmanship Unit (AMU), recently awarded another dangerous old man a coveted black hat among other things:

Ted Gundy, an 86-year-old World Wat [sic] II sniper, was awarded the black hat, one of the highest awards of the marksmanship unit, during his visit to Ft. Benning, Ga. He got a few other surprises along the way.
