Bed bugs brought into U.S. by illegals?

[Every "REAL" American? Who qualifies as a "REAL" American?

Mexicans are not REAL Americans because they don't leave their corrupt culture back in Mexico. They bring it with them and force Americans to accept it.

Why do Americans have to listen to the Mexican version of Spanish?

Why do Americans have to look in a Spanish to English dictionary to read billboards or store signs in the United States.

Why does the US government have to treat Mexicans as an endandered species?
Culture and language?!? Oy Vey! What would "REAL" America look like if all immigrants melded into 17th century Puritans? Has American benefitted from immigrant culture throughout our history? By Jove, me thinks 'tis true!

This young buckaroo doesn't seem old enough to have learned from history that the Irish immigration to the U.S. was seen as a similar (terrible) problem at the time, as were the Italians. The country was smaller then, and transportation throughout the country wasn't as easy. I'm sure if the Irish and Italians were trying to "get in" at this point in time, these WASPY morons would be just as insulting. Ironically, ALL immigrants, legal or illegal, manage to find work, usually in the most backbreaking and/or filthy environments.

[]Big Sesame Street fan are ya?

I find your choice of words curious. "Indoctrinating"!? Really?

And PBS offers no children's programming in English?

One lesson taught on TV when I was a kid was daily ex cerise. The charming hostess would sing "Bend and stretch! Reach for the stars!" But that was to ex cerise our bodies. You seem to use that old children's song to form arguments.

Maya and Miguel? A gang banger and his slutty sister? OLA!!

True, as is true with most of these outrageous sites masquerading as "news" outlets. I think they lay awake nights dreaming up worst-case scenarios and then writing a bogus story hoping it will stick as some sort of fact. (Obviously, it does.)
There are folks who will grab any thing to show that foreigners are a greater threat than they really are. Look right here on this board! There are some idiots who think that the Chilean miners got celebrity treatment not because of their endurance and strength of spirit, but because they are brown skinned and speak Spanish.

An article about bed bugs plays into this fear and lack of logical thought. It starts as a trickle, and becomes a torrent.

You ignore the marching Mexicans masquerading as "immigrants" when every REAL American sees them as an invading army and people who help them as collaborators that would have helped the invading Nazis in WW2.

I'll bet if you lay bleeding on the battlefield, you wouldn't first question an Army medic's nationality.

U.S. Troop Casualties - 4,427 US troops; 98% male. 91% non-officers; 82% active duty, 11% National Guard; 74% Caucasian, 9% African-American, 11% Latino. 19% killed by non-hostile causes. 54% of US casualties were under 25 years old. 72% were from the US Army

It must suck to be you.[/quote]

Really? What was the MEXICAN ARMED FORCES casualties in:

World War 1, World War 2, Korean War, or Vietnam?

They're not even in the Iraq War while other countries are?

And you are siding with Mexico?

More Russians died in WW2 that the entire population of Mexico at that time?

What does the world owe Mexico?

Yeah, that is why so many Americans are mad because they have to PRESS 2 for Gaelic or PRESS 2 for Italian.

But how many of the Irish or Italians died fighting in World War 1 and 2.

Me no see no Mexicanos?

Hispanic Medal Of Honor Recipients - List

You're a bigot and an idiot! Wait! That's redundant. Only idiots are bigots.

At any rate, here is a list of Hispanic Medal of Honor recipients. I hope you choke on it.

Bed bugs come from a lack of Washing yourself and your cloths and bedding. Stop trying to blame it on anyone lol.
Bed bugs are insidious. Five star hotels in major cities are plagued with bed bugs. Bed bugs can show up in the cleanest homes. They can be passed by any contact with fabric covered surfaces. You brush up against a sofa in a hotel lobby, you bring them home with you. Don't fret. Soon enough, everyone will be more familiar with the pests than they care to be. And then you'll realize you ideas of bed bugs and a lack of hygiene are out of whack with reality.

What? Bedbugs don't care if you're clean or dirty. They hide everywhere, whether in dirty drawers (both kinds) or in the backings of picture frames. Geeze, Charlie, a quick Google check will fill you in on bed bug facts. You really don't need to make foolish statements.

News Flash people, in NYC we are being told that bed bugs are coming in through infested clothing imports from around the third world too. This may be an Urban Legend. They are instructing to put all new imported clothing in the dryer, before wearing. The heat will kill em. Let me see if I can find a link to validate either way... This may take a while. ;)

You people realize the pesticide used to get rid of these things is now illegal so their numbers have been allowed to grow right? May have no connection to the invaders, although I'm sure the pesticide is legal in Mexico which would be an interesting irony.
That would be DDT..Which was used ot control ampng other things, mosquitoes that spread malria. Intersting how bedbugs and malaria carrying mosquitoes have made strong recoveries and have spread around the world..
DDT was banned based on junk science.
The chemical was deemed dangerous because it supposedly softened the egg shells of certain birds of prey that ate primarily marine or aquatic animals.
The scientists testing the birds gave mega doses of DDT to the control animals. Only with extreme exposure to DDT did the birds lay soft shelled eggs. DDT was banned and no replacement was developed.
Some one or some company had an agenda, got the attention of some hack in the right office in Washington, who then decided that some money needed to be granted to a research facility in a particular Congressmen's district and the rest is history.
African people are dying from malaria at higher rates than those seen before the ban on DDT. Now we are dealing with these little blood sucking creatures due to the actions of a few two legged blood sucking creatures in Washington.

The bed bug feeds on blood...

Hairy limbs keep bed bugs at bay
14 December 2011 - Hairier skin may be the key to avoiding being bitten by bed bugs, claim Sheffield academics.
Hungry bugs placed on shaved arms were more likely to try to feed compared with those on unshaved arms, the journal Biology Letters reported. Researchers say the hair slows down the bed bugs and warns the victim. Pest controllers say the UK is currently experiencing a steep rise in the number of bed bug infestations. Prof Michael Siva-Jothy, from Sheffield University's Department of Animal and Plant Sciences, recruited 29 brave volunteers to test the theory further, watching the bedbugs as they found a place to feed and removing them only as they were about to bite. He found that more layers of both longer visible hairs and finer, "vellus" hairs near the surface appeared to work as a deterrent to the insects, with the finer hairs also acting as an early warning system. Prof Siva-Jothy said: "Our findings show that more body hairs mean better detection of parasites - the hairs have nerves attached to them and provide us with the ability to detect displacement."

He said they also slowed down the insect as it searched for a tasty spot to bite. "The results have implications for understanding why we look the way we do, what selective forces might have driven us to look the way we do, and may even provide insight for better understanding of how to reduce biting insects' impact on humans." However, even though men are naturally hairier than women, they do not appear to be bitten less often. Professor Siva-Jothy suggested this pointed to an evolutionary battle between bed bugs and their prey, with the insects adapting to automatically head for relatively hairless bits of the body, such as wrists and ankles. He added that extreme hairiness might also be more of a disadvantage than an advantage. "If you have a heavy coat of long thick hairs it is easier for parasites to hide, even if you can detect them. "Our proposal is that we retain the fine covering because it aids detection and if we lost all hair, even the relatively invisible fine hair, our detection ability goes right down."

Evolutionary pressure

This tallies with other studies which look at how humans came to be relatively less hairy than apes. Other scientists have suggested that swapping thicker fur for clothes was a way of making insect bites and parasitic infestations less likely. Prof Mark Pagel, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Reading, said that biting parasites remain a major cause of disease and death worldwide, making them a potentially enormous evolutionary pressure on early man. He said: "This vellus hair is certainly no use for anything else, so it is a reasonable hypothesis that it developed in response to a strong selective pressure in our past. "Mammals are unique in developing this wonderful fur, and humans are the only mammals to jettison it, so there must have been a very good reason to do so."
