Kids education should be up to the parents and the parents alone. Obviously common core does not cut it...Common core is absolutely the wrong way to approach education, because the parents want nothing to do with it. Why force something on to other people’s kids? Most parents want nothing to do with common core, that’s why it should not be exposed to those parents kids.
That’s why I homeschool… The federal government cannot be trusted with education in anyway whatsoever...
In other words you can't find ONE standard (ELA) that shouldn't be taught in schools.
Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely not for a one size fits all approach-which is why I'd be against any curriculum being adopted on a federal level. However standards are WHAT is taught-not HOW. For example one of my standards is:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.1.A
Introduce precise, knowledgeable claim(s), establish the significance of the claim(s), distinguish the claim(s) from alternate or opposing claims, and create an organization that logically sequences claim(s), counterclaims, reasons, and evidence.
This standard states that students in the 11th and 12th grades learn how to write/make an argument, and support it with evidence, commentary, etc.
I don't think anybody would be against every states making sure that students learn this skill above, including yourself.
That is the "what".
The "how" would be teacher assigning different assigns as to what their actual arguments might be. Are they going to argue whether we should keep the electoral college? Have more or less gun control? Whether schools should adopt uniforms?
So you think it's wrong to tell parents that their children should learn how to write/make clear arguments, supported with commentary and evidence?
PS: You keep dodging the question as to which specific ELA standard shouldn't be taught in all schools. I suspect it's because you're unable to do so.
Education should be just the basics, Common core is all about taking the education out of the parents hands. It’s a very deceptive program… To the uneducated.
How is Common Core deceptive?
Define "basics". Is it just reading and writing?
So do you admit it's not arithmetic?
Like I said or tried to imply it's just word scramble, no right answers as I research it some more
