Not really. The economy with double-digit interest rates, etc. in 1980 was worse.

In fact, the economy was recovering by the 2nd quarter of 2009.

I couldn't agree more. I was an adult during both of those recessions. During the Reagan recession, you couldn't even find a McDonald's job. I mean there was absolutely nothing around. In desperation, I finally signed up with several temp agencies. After waiting two weeks, only one called me back.

After the first job they gave me, I got excellent reviews by their customer. They started to send me to every new job that came up unless I was working with another client of theirs. I was working 40 or more hours a week.

Back then our social programs didn't pay anything like they did during the DumBama years. It was just about you work or starve. During the DumBama recession, I seen all kinds of jobs around. As a local truck driver, I often spent time in industrial complexes loaded with HELP WANTED signs on buildings. People would rather live on the dole than take any of those jobs.
