Predictions of the Washington Post that the Trump administration and the Republican-controlled Congress will mean a world of pain for the blue states.

I don't think all these horrible predictions will come true, but one can always hope.

If you read the article carefully, all the pain inflicted on the blue states will be of the self-inflicted kind.

Eliminating tax deductions for state and local taxes would inflict pain on blue states because they have high taxes, but blue states chose to impose high taxes on their residents.

Shifting Medicare blocks to states based on income would inflict pain on blue states, but that's only because blue states are hogging up more than their fair share of Medicare funds, with D.C. getting 11 times as much as Nevada per recipient.

Forcing the states to fund their own bankrupted pension funds would inflict pain on blue states, because most of the states who have irresponsibly funded their pension funds are blue states.

I like how the author of the OP's article accepts that red states are in for a world a pain as a prerequisite to her point, and wrote the article to warn that blue states are also in danger.

What kind of craziness would cause anyone to want to punish Blue States for not voting for Trump? The President said "regardless of our skin color we all bleed patriotic red". Let's concentrate on making America great again and not worry about punishing Blue states.
