The President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff announces publicly the creation of a world internet system INDEPENDENT from US and Britain ( the “US-centric internet”).

Not many understand that, while the immediate trigger for the decision (coupled with the cancellation of a summit with the US president) was the revelations on NSA spying, the reason why Rousseff can take such a historic step is that the alternative infrastructure: The BRICS cable from Vladivostock, Russia to Shantou, China to Chennai, India to Cape Town, South Africa to Fortaleza, Brazil, is being built and it’s, actually, in its final phase of implementation.

The thing about the American internet is the fact that our freedom of speech(first amendment) is at the core. This won't have that.

Sure, I know. They're working on that to. Internet censorship, kill switch, etc. did you notice WHY this is being created?

It's a hell of a thing when the developing world is able to point at the US and legitimately say "hey, remember when you guys were all about liberty?"

Hmm ................. the Iron curtain, an excellent idea for the 3rd world.
As internet was introduced in China, it made the Chinese people unhappy, they started talking & asking questions like:
Why do we have a toilet paper factory, and the people of China are still wiping their asses with their left hand, if we have the capacity to manufacture toilet paper for the United States, then the people China should have access to it as well?
Now the Chinese government has to spend resources on production of toilet paper for their own people when they were doing just fine without it ................. when this happened ......... it was bad.

If you were the right race and social organization you had liberty in this nation.
