I don't think the crime rate and the shootings number depend on the gun regulations in the country that much. What's more important and what influences is how the government protects its citizens, and how citizens abide the law. What is the safest country in the world? Top three: Singapore, Norway, Japan. What gun regulations do they have?
So actually a ban itself, imho, influences hardly anything. The culture of the country itself matters.
