Breaking News...FBI Cracks Open Terrorist Phone

Actually the FBI doesn't employ the smartest people in the world nor does it have the technology to crack the Apple encription or they would have done it right away instead of dragging it through an embarrassing media circus. Hollywood propaganda for the last 80 years tends to elevate most Federal agencies way beyond reality. The FBI is a bumbling bureaucracy with an appointed director who serves at the pleasure of whatever administration hires him/her. The agents are good people who receive excellent training but that isn't enough. The crime lab scandals and the failures like the Boston Marathon bombing and the gigantic mistake of "operation Fast and Furious" (with the ATF) illustrate the built in bureaucratic problem of almost every federal agency. The FBI probably reached out to some nerdy hacker club or some hacker under federal indictment and made a deal.

Now prosecute Apple for treason.

It was not treason, it was protecting proprietary business information

It was never Apple's obligation to crack the phone for the FBI.

FBI wanted the programing from Apple. Only towards the end were the FBI willing to hand over the phone to Apple, but would not let them destroy the phone after the information was extracted to protect how they did it.

It was obstruction of justice. The FBI had probable cause to see the contents of the phone and Apple willfully aided in the obstruction of access to the contents.

Apple did not have to give the FBI a trade secret of their security. It could be used on other phones "with out cause"

Apple is free to continue their business, and the FBI have access to the phone.

Happy ending

Obviously if the FBI was able to figure out how to open that one phone, Apple could have done the same thing for the FBI,

weeks ago. This was a terrorist's phone, afterall, and could have contained time sensitive valuable information.

Obstruction of justice.
